Renee & Jon’s Intimate Lewes Town Hall Wedding / East Sussex Wedding

There’s something incredibly special about a small, intimate wedding, and Renee and Jon’s beautiful ceremony at Lewes Town Hall was full of heartfelt moments from beginning to end.

Their Sussex wedding was designed especially for close family and friends who sadly won’t be able to attend their larger celebration in France this October.

It was the perfect way to bring everyone together, celebrate their marriage, and create memories with the people closest to them before heading overseas for their French wedding later this year.

A Beautiful Ceremony at Lewes Town Hall

Nestled in the heart of East Sussex, Lewes Town Hall is such a wonderful venue for intimate weddings and smaller ceremonies. Its historic character and central location make it one of my favourite spots for couples looking for a relaxed yet elegant registry office wedding in Sussex.

One of the most emotional moments of the day was seeing Renee being walked down the aisle by her son, who serves in the RAF. Looking incredibly smart in full dress uniform, he was truly suited and booted for the occasion, and you could feel how proud everyone was in that moment. It was such a meaningful part of the ceremony and one I know Renee will treasure forever.

Their ceremony itself was warm, personal, and full of laughter, with the perfect balance of happy tears and smiles.

Drinks in the Registry Office Gardens

After the ceremony, guests gathered in the beautiful Lewes Registry Office gardens for celebratory drinks and hugs in the sunshine. These quieter moments after the ceremony are always some of my favourites to photograph — everyone is relaxed, chatting, and simply enjoying being together.

Small weddings often create such a lovely atmosphere because every guest is genuinely part of the couple’s story, and that really came across throughout the afternoon.

Couple Portraits Around Lewes

Before the celebrations continued, we took some time for relaxed couple portraits around Lewes. The town offers so many beautiful backdrops for wedding photography, from historic architecture to charming streets full of character.

Renee and Jon were an absolute dream to photograph — completely relaxed with each other and just enjoying every second of the day together.

A Double Decker Bus Send Off

To finish off the afternoon, the couple and their guests headed off aboard a classic double decker bus, which added such a fun and unique touch to the day. It was the perfect ending to a wonderfully personal wedding celebration before the next chapter of their wedding story continues in France later this year.

Why Recommendations Mean So Much

One of the loveliest parts of photographing Renee and Jon’s wedding was that they found me through recommendations from previous couples. Honestly, nothing means more to me as a wedding photographer than being recommended by past couples to their friends and family.
