How I Got Into Photography and Why I Love Capturing Weddings

Photography has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My journey started when I was around 6 or 7 years old during family holidays to France. While most children were busy playing by the pool or collecting souvenirs, you would always find me with a camera in my hands, capturing moments everywhere I went.

Those early memories sparked a passion that has stayed with me throughout my life. I became fascinated by the way a single photograph could freeze a feeling, tell a story, and bring memories back to life years later. From beautiful French streets and sunsets to candid family moments, photography quickly became more than a hobby — it became part of who I am.

My Journey to Becoming an Award-Winning Photographer

Over the years, my love for photography continued to grow. I spent countless hours learning, practising, and perfecting my craft. What started as childhood curiosity eventually turned into a career I truly love.

Today, I am proud to be an award-winning photographer, specialising in wedding and couples photography. Over the years, I have now won more than 26 photography awards, something I could only have dreamed of when I first picked up a camera as a child.

I am also incredibly proud to now be a recommended supplier at two beautiful wedding venues in East Sussex, something that means so much to me because it reflects the trust venues and couples place in my work and experience.

Every wedding is unique, and I never take for granted the trust couples place in me to document one of the most important days of their lives.

Why I Love Being a Wedding Photographer

Being a wedding photographer is about so much more than taking pictures. It is about storytelling, emotion, and creating memories that couples will treasure forever.

I love capturing the genuine moments — the nervous excitement before the ceremony, the happy tears during speeches, the laughter between family and friends, and those quiet moments couples share together away from the crowd.

One of the things that means the most to me is making every couple feel special from the moment they book with me. I treat every wedding as if I am photographing my own family because I genuinely care about creating an unforgettable experience for the people I work with.

Making Couples Feel Special on Their Wedding Day

My goal is always to make couples feel relaxed, comfortable, and truly cared for on their wedding day. I know not everyone feels confident in front of the camera, which is why I focus on creating a calm and enjoyable atmosphere from start to finish.

I take the time to get to know each couple personally so I can capture their personalities, connection, and love story in an authentic way. I never want couples to feel like “just another booking.” When you work with me, you become part of my photography family.

From helping calm nerves before the ceremony to making people laugh during portraits, I always go above and beyond to make couples feel supported and special throughout the entire day.

I believe the best wedding photography comes from real emotion and genuine connection. That is why I focus on creating natural, timeless images that couples can look back on for generations.

Some Memorable Weddings I Will Never Forget

Over the years, I have been lucky enough to photograph some truly unforgettable weddings, each with its own unique story and atmosphere.

One wedding that will always stay with me is Lucy and Nick’s beautiful wedding at Fitzrovia Chapel. The emotion throughout the day, the incredible setting, and the connection between them made it such a special wedding to capture. Moments like that remind me exactly why I love what I do.

Every wedding brings something different, whether it is an emotional ceremony, an incredible dance floor, stunning countryside venues, or those quiet candid moments couples share together. Being trusted to capture these memories is something I will never take for granted.

One of the reasons I love being a wedding photographer so much is because no two weddings are ever the same. There are always those unforgettable little moments throughout the day that make every wedding unique and special.

Some of my favourite moments to capture are the emotional reactions during the ceremony, the proud smiles from parents, the laughter during speeches, and those quiet in-between moments when couples finally get a chance to take everything in together. I also absolutely love the dance floor energy later in the evening when everyone relaxes and celebrates with the people they love most.

Keeping couples relaxed and laughing is a huge part of my approach to wedding photography. I never want photos to feel awkward or overly posed. Instead, I focus on creating a fun, natural atmosphere where couples can simply enjoy being together. Whether it is cracking jokes, giving gentle direction, or capturing candid moments as they happen, I always make sure my couples feel comfortable and genuinely happy in front of the camera.

I believe the best photographs come when people are truly enjoying themselves, and nothing makes me happier than hearing couples say how much fun they had during their photos. That natural laughter, real connection, and genuine emotion are what create timeless wedding memories.
